ViewBag.Cooperative.Name Electric Co-Op Electric Vehicles
A business corporation chartered by the State of Texas and operating under Texas laws. It is wholly owned and controlled by the people in Hansford, Hemphill, Hutchinson, Lipscomb, Ochiltree, Roberts and Wheeler counties, to whom it provides electric service.
It pays all state and local taxes. The North Plains Electric Cooperative is a business owned by a specific group of people, (not the public) so it is a private enterprise. The people who use its services are members of the organization. Therefore, these members own and control North Plains.
As a cooperative, North Plains Electric Cooperative operates on a non-profit basis. All revenues, over and above the cost of doing business for a year, are credited to members under a patronage refund plan called Capital Credits. Your cooperative’s electric rates are designed to bring in enough money to pay operating costs, meet loan payments, and provide a reserve for emergencies. At the end of each calendar year, we subtract our operating expenses from the collected revenue for the year; the balance is our “margin.”
Every year that the cooperative produces a margin, member’s individual shares of that margin are credited or allocated to individual capital credit accounts. In the past margins have been typically returned on a twenty-year rotation. Each year the board of directors determines if the financial condition of the cooperative will not be impaired by the return of this investment.
The aim of North Plains Electric Cooperative, Inc. is to make electric energy available to its members at the lowest cost consistent with sound economy and good management.
Why Go Electric
Electric vehicles are clean, green, and offer environmental advantages that benefit all of us.
Plug-in electric vehicles have zero tailpipe emissions, which improves air quality. When accounting for the
electricity that powers EVs, emissions are still lower than traditional vehicles.
If the electricity used to charge the vehicle is produced from nuclear energy or renewable sources (such as
solar or hydropower), operating an electric vehicle is completely emissions free.
Amazing Driving Experience
Electric motors generate near-instant torque, meaning that EVs have extremely fast acceleration and a more
responsive, zippy feel behind the wheel.
When you plug in, you’re also connected by your smart phone. Tap to charge technology and full-charge
alerts put you in control wherever you are.
Sleek Design Options
Today’s EVs are different from what you’re picturing. From sedans to SUVs and minivans, there are sleek
design options to fit any driver. Even more options, including trucks, are on the horizon.
With an electric vehicle there are fewer moving parts, so you can count on less maintenance and eliminate oil changes altogether.
Imagine never having to go to the gas station again. Most EV drivers charge from the convenience of home
and public charging stations are continuing to expand across the nation.
EVs react more quickly, giving you faster pickup, improved turning power and a better driving experience.
The Future of Transportation
As an EV driver, you’re focused on the future. You’re doing your part to make a difference for the environment
and lead a movement toward the future of transportation, all while saving money.
